CONTENTS PAGE ANALYSIS 1 (HARRY SHORT)
The style of this contents page is unconventional compared to other music magazine contents pages. This contents page is layed out like a notice board and divided up into sections so readers can easily find which part of the magazine they want without having to scan down a list. I will not be using this style in my magazine as i will be using a more conventional contents page layout. The heading of the contents page is conventionally at the top of the page in bold clear writing, in my magazine i will probably put the contents heading down the side of the page. The pictures on the contents page are also in a notice board fashion and also give the reader an insight into some of the story's in the magazine which are not displayed on the cover. My contents page will use a lot more conventional styles than this one as this contents page looks too crowded i think and too much for a reader to take in. There is use of a lot of colours in this contents page (white, yellow, pink and black) which do catch the eye but also clash slightly and crowd the page more. In my contents page i will use a maximum of three colours, probably a primary colours on black or white background

I am delighted you have commented on conventions and fully related this to your own production. You won't be able to make a final decision on colours until you get your TA research analysis done. I'm also not quite sure why you chose Beat magazine? This isn't the music genre and subgenre that you are doing is it? Beat tend to be a range of pop , rock n roll- country through the years. I would analyse another contents page that is of a similar genre to the one you want to make.
